I read a lot of information about VirtualBox. Yesterday, I installed it on my Ubuntu 7.04 box and installed fedora 7, Ubuntu 7.04 SE (it is my remastered edition of Ubuntu), and Windows XP as virtual machines.
Without installing the Additions.iso of VirtualBox :
Windows XP required to give 64MB RAM as display memory to make it to be 1024×768. Ubuntu 7.04 has no problem in it. However, fedora 7 can only be displayed in 800×600.
With installing the Additions.iso of VirtualBox :
Windows XP and Ubuntu 7.04 have no other issue and remained in 1024×768. For fedora 7, I have no time to make it work with additions.iso.
The virtual machine cannot run 3D games or beryl in Linux, too sad.
We back to talk about how to install VirtualBox on Ubuntu 7.04 :
Step 1 :
Go to the VirtualBox Official site and following the instruction to download.
Step 2 :
After the installation, you should do the following :
Step 2a –
Make the USB working.
Step 2b –
sudo chmod 777 /dev/vboxdrv
Step 2c –
Add yourself to the group of “vboxusers”
Step 3 :
Select the VirtualBox from “Application” menu.
By the way, the full instruction is here.
